I didn’t even know Family Court existed until I found myself in front of a judge in Franklin County. Now, with the help of organizations and experts, I am an experienced Pro se litigant.

Opposing counsel made it his personal vendetta to destroy my life, but he greatly underestimated me. I spent every day learning the lingo, figuring out how to file motions, hours and hours every weekday in the law library with my goal - to make him drop his glasses. He would spin his glasses on his fingers like he owned the place. Then one day, I came in prepared. He dropped his glasses that day. Checkmate.

The judge recused herself. The DCF Fair Hearing Unit reversed their case worker’s false allegations. The police were caught on bodycam footage giving my x-partner legal advice. Now I have a Federal Lawsuit against the Family Court Judge, two municipal police officers, three DCF workers, and opposing counsel - 120 pages of violations and damages reaching over $35-million.

I want case law to help victims and survivors to accompany my testimony in getting various bills passed. I meet with legislatures and the State Auditor’s Office. I want to de-isolate the isolated. I want to reform Family Court and implement mandatory Domestic Violence and Coercive Control training for judges, law enforcement, DCF, and attorneys. I also believe high schools should have access to experts to teach students about Coercive Control.

My motivation is to save lives. We lose protective parents to suicide too often. This is a public health crisis, and I want my daughter to have a better justice system.
